Happy Birthday to Archie!

Today is Archie's birthday and this year he turns 2! That's 14 in human years! My, how time flies....

I feel like just yesterday, he was this small:

And now he's all grown up: 20 pounds heavier, living in San Francisco, and howling to his heart's content!

Happy Birthday to our precious baby boy :-)

THE SF GIANTS SWEPT THE WORLD SERIES!

Perhaps you've heard?

Obviously, the entire fam was ecstatic:

Some San Franciscans got a little too excited.

Anyways, the news of their big win is many days old now, but today was the homecoming parade for our champs and yes, the entire city was there...

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi!
Willie Mays (blurry)!
Giants mascot!
UC Berkeley Marching Band!
The World Series trophy with Giants manager, Bruce Bochy!
And finally, the players come escorted by the SF Segway Tour Company!
Tim Lincecum
World Series MVP (and his trophy), Pablo Sandoval (aka Panda)!
How sweep it is!
The aftermath.

Playing Tourist, Part II

Our second set of visitors, James and Jessica, arrived last week and we were so thrilled to have them!

We met James and Jessica when we were all working for a previous employer.  James and Shane (both software engineers) became good friends and even stayed close after James & Jessica moved away to NYC!  They came to experience all that the bay area has to offer, so they spent a few days in Napa, a few days with us exploring the South Bay area, and are doing their last few days even further south near Big Sur.

Here's a few photos from their stay with us...

We went hiking at Sweeney Ridge in San Bruno (additional blogpost with A TON of photos coming soon!)
After the hike, we came home EXHAUSTED and watched the sunset on our roof!
Then the menfolk made us dinner!
Thanks to James & Jessica for providing the lobster! LOVED it!!
Archie loved making new friends, but he sure was exhausted by the time they left!

Life Lately

It's been almost a week since my last post and a full month since my last "Life Lately," so enjoy this half-hearted attempt at keeping you informed and entertained...

It rained...
We ate these things for dinner...
Porkchops!
Bruschetta!
Chicken Parmigiana!
Pot roast!
I saw this Crazy on the BART...
I ate a lot of fruit....
Archie made these faces...

I saw these things while walking to the Post Office...
Somewhere in Chinatown
Transamerica Pyramid
Jackson Square
I ate this cupcake...

Happy Thursday!

Our Morning Ritual

As I've mentioned, Shane and I are serious creatures of habit. We eat at the same taqueria every weekend, we eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, etc.

Well, yet another of our rituals is the work sendoff.  I invented this during my brief unemployment period (because I had nothing better to do with my time), and now that I am back in the workforce (yay!) and I leave before Shane does, he indulges me....

First, Archie watches you walk down the stairs to the front door..
Once you get halfway down the steps, you hear Archie bounding across the living room (we call this a puppy stampede) and out to the balcony to say goodbye one more time...

And finally, as you walk to the BART station, Archie waves his tiny puppy paw and says "Bye Friend!"

What's new with Archie?

If I had a nickel for every time somebody asked me this...

Just kidding. No one has ever asked me this because he's a dog and has no life.  However, I'm here to tell you what's new with Archie anyway... via photos!

This is Archie's precious puppy face...
This is Archie's new friend, Jewel.  Jewel is Kathy-the-Dog-Walker's dog.  Don't ask me about the puppy shoes -- I have no clue...
This is Archie's new ENORMOUS bone. We bought 10 of them, so we'll see how long that lasts us...
This is Archie's bone in his crate, where he keeps it (for protection, obviously) on the rare occasion that it leaves his mouth...
This is Archie's scratched-up nose.  No clue how he did this (though it didn't seem to hurt him or anything) -- that dog gets into everything...
This is Archie's puppy paw! He likes to sleep outside on the deck chairs when it's sunny...

This is Archie being spoiled rotten with a leftover T-Bone (under close supervision of course)...

Proud Parents

As I mentioned in my previous post, Archie is being babysat 3 days a week now and today was his first day. We just got his first report card and it's so cute, I just had to share...

"Archie is such a good boy! He was great when meeting my dogs, even tho they can be brats with first introductions, he didn't even bark!

He's very good on the leash, well socialized and we had a lot of fun. You've done a great job with him. :)

Looking forward to Wednesday.

Wags,
Kathy"

Who's the proudest puppy parents in the world? WE ARE!!

Life Lately

Dear Captive Audience,

I am so deeply apologetic for my recent blog absence.  As I mentioned in my last post, I am finally employed!  Therefore, things (like blogging) that I used to do during my idle homemaking days have unfortunately fallen by the wayside.  I have several post topics in mind, but I just haven't had time to sit and write or upload photos.  I'll save those topics for eventual blogging and in the meantime hopefully you'll be temporarily satisfied with a few photos from life lately...

New coffeemaker! It's a MoccaMaster and so far we're quite pleased :-)
Archie is still as cute as ever (smelling my Congrats-On-Your-New-Job flowers)
TransAmerica Pyramid -- San Fran's famous skyscraper that I get to walk by everyday on my way to work!
We've been having yucky, foggy, rainy weather A LOT lately
I just discovered this ice cream at Safeway. Haven't tried it yet, but I AM on my 8th box of Thin Mint cookies for the season (and it probably won't be my last)
Since we'll be at work 8 hours a day now, Archie has a new best friend named Kathy who will walk him Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons
